Michael Lang | The Vidette                                The Ambassador For Peace medal is for members of the military who served during the Korean War. On Monday, Aug. 21, 2018, Herb Beck of Montesano and Maurice Fox and Lloyd Jorgensen, both of Aberdeen, received the award at the Montesano Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in Montesano. “This commemorative medal is an expression of appreciation from the Korean government to American service men and women who served in the Korean War,” according to the state Department of Veterans Affairs website.

Four area veterans were honored for their service Aug. 21 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2455 in Montesano.

Herb Beck, of Montesano, and Maurice Fox and Lloyd Jorgensen, both of Aberdeen, received Ambassador For Peace medals for their service during the Korean War.

“This commemorative medal is an expression of appreciation from the Korean government to American service men and women who served in the Korean War,” according to the state Department of Veterans Affairs website.

Grant Edwards, of Aberdeen, was recognized for 60 years of membership at the VFW post. At age 99, he is believed to be the oldest veteran in Grays Harbor County. He served in World War II and the Korean War.
