Resolution 2026-28 failed by a vote of 8 to 4. The resolution would have referred the proposed Charter amendment to reduce the City Council from 12 to six members to Aberdeen voters, allowing the public to decide whether one councilmember per ward is the right structure for our city. Councilors Gakin, Hodgkin, Nipper, and Taylor voted against the resolution. Because nine affirmative votes were required under the current Charter, the measure will not advance to the ballot.
Passed the first reading of an ordinance for the creation of a youth council.
Appointed Beverly Wilkinson and Kaitlyn Rowe to the library board.
