Patricia Gloria Louise (McLean) Hole, 96, Aberdeen resident and former Administrative Assistant to the Vice-President of Weyerhaeuser, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026 at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam, Washington.
Pat was born in Helena, Montana on Jan. 2, 1930, to Charles Hector and Selma (Baumann) McLean. Her family moved to Walla Walla, Washington when she was 9 and she graduated from Walla Walla High School. She then graduated from Kinman Business College in Spokane Washington.
In 1958, Pat joined the Kennewick, Washington chapter of the International Toastmistress Club (later renamed International Training in Communication), a parallel organization for women to Toastmasters International. A gifted communicator and leader, Pat moved up the ranks of the local, regional and international levels of the organization, serving as local chapter President, regional Vice-President and second and first Vice-President of the International Association before ascending to serve as International President in 1969 at the ITC convention held in Cincinnati, Ohio. During and after her term as president she, with her husband Rich, traveled nationally and internationally to support ITC activities.
She and Rich were active in local charities and the Grays Harbor College Foundation.
They created the Richard and Patricia Hole Foundation to provide a full scholarship to support an Aberdeen High School graduate wishing to attend Eastern Washington University. She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen.
Pat loved to cook, entertain and travel as well as enjoying movies, bridge, pinochle and reading. She doted on her husband, children and grandchildren and had a wicked sense of humor and deep appreciation of art, music and collecting mementos during her many travels with Rich. Throughout her long life she brightened every room she entered!
Pat is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Richard D. Hole, Sr. of Aberdeen; seven children and step-children: Michael (Kristine) Bartanen, Bradley Bartanen, Charles (Anne) Hole, Stephanie (Dick) Baker, Rick (Linda) Hole, Kathryn (Mike) Knibbe and Diane (Ross) McGregor as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles “Bob” McLean and her daughter Dr. Wendy Bartanen.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, March 14 at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 420 North Broadway, Aberdeen, Washington. A reception will follow. She will be interred at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen.
