Ina Viola (Dahlstrom) Fairbairn, 91, of Green Valley Arizona, passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, 2026.
Ina was born on March 3, 1934, to Charles and Mary Dahlstrom in her grandparents’ log cabin in Grouse Creek, Idaho. She was raised and educated in Aberdeen, Washington and graduated from Aberdeen High School.
As a family member fondly recalls, Albert Fairbairn first “spotted the pretty neighbor girl,” and the two soon fell in love. They were married in June 1952 in Aberdeen, where they began building a life together. During Albert’s military service, they welcomed their first child, Shelley. The family later moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana, while Albert attended college, and their son Charles was born. Eventually they returned to Aberdeen, where their family grew with the births of Ryan, Bonnie, Tim and Janet.
Ina devoted herself to her role as a mother, creating a warm and loving home while raising their children. In later years, she and Bert owned several business ventures, including owning a tavern and hotels in Port Angeles and Moses Lake. They relocated to Grandview, Washington, in the late 1980s, where the family operated a machine shop, and later retired to Central Park to live on family property.
Ina found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She loved cooking, tending the family’s canyon garden filled with azaleas and hydrangeas, and reading — rarely missing her weekly trips to the library and returning with an armful of books. She and Bert loved to play pool, bowl, golf and ride their mopeds around. Above all else, Ina cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; her family was the center of her world and greatest source of happiness.
Ina is survived by her children, Shelley Fairbairn of Green Valley, Arizon; Chuck Fairbairn (Lisa) of Sunnyside, Washington; Ryan Fairbairn (Jim) of Green Valley, Arizona; Bonnie Lewis (Dave) of Aberdeen, Washington; Tim Fairbairn (Michelle) of Tieton, Washington and Boo Fairbairn of Tuscon, Arizona. She is survived by her grandchildren, Beau Beck, Sascha Craft, Chuck, Drew and Hank Fairbairn; Bobbi Sudderth, Zechariah, Gail, Jesse, Daniel and Anna Cross; Michael, Justin and Chelsie Fairbairn and 23 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Neil Dahlstrom of Danville, California along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her.
Ina was proceeded in death by her husband Albert, parents Charles and Mary Dahlstrom, her sister Peggy Micheau, brothers Dick and Kelley Dahlstrom and grandson Aaron Fairbairn.
A celebration of Ina’s life will be celebrated in the spring.
