Valerie Jean Rhodes

Aberdeen resident, Valerie Jean Rhodes, passed away at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, Washington, on Aug. 29, 2025, at the age of 69. She was born on July 6, 1956, in Bellingham, Washington, to parents Carl Reinhold Carlson and Dorothy Jean Borjesson.

She graduated from Nooksack Valley High School in 1974 and 10 years later, on Aug. 4, 1984, she married John Rhodes at the Clearbrook Lutheran Church in Lynden, Washington. She worked at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation and CCAP before retiring in 2014. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Saron Lutheran First Presbyterian Church. She loved cross stitching and baking delicious foods.

Valerie is survived by her loving husband, John Rhodes of Aberdeen, Washington; son Brian (Sarah) Rhodes of Vancouver, Washington; brothers Paul Carlson of Pahala, Hawaii and Glen Carlson of Sumas, Washington; and granddaughter, Kora McKinney Rhodes and Brynn Mavis Rhodes.

She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Dorothy Carlson.

A memorial service will be held at Saron Lutheran First Presbyterian Church in Hoquiam on Nov. 15, at 1 p.m.

She will be laid to rest at the Lakeside Cemetery in Clearbrook, Washington.
