Verna MacDonald, left, will be grand marshal of the 2017 Rusty Scupper’s Pirate Daze. Rosie Litterer, right, president of Pirate Daze, made the announcement during the Westport City Council’s June 12 meeting. MacDonald, 87, served for 13 years as volunteer director of the Westport South Beach Senior Center, retiring from that post in 2012. In addition, she has served as chaplain for the Grayland and Westport volunteer fire departments, and as a Coastal Harvest board member. She also is active with the Westport South Beach Gen. James H.
