Workers from the city of Aberdeen and Washington State Department of Transportation worked Wednesday to clean out the state-owned property on State Street. The area in question is where 30-plus homeless people live. The homeless residents were being temporarily moved, but they will be allowed to move back once the area is cleared out.

A needle with its sharp end stuck into the side of a pallet-wall on River Street shows the proof of drug use at the encampment underneath the Chehalis River Bridge. Two city workers explained what they do to help clean up the encampment there. They also listed the worst sources of waste they clean up, with needles ranking at the top. To prevent being stuck with a needle, Oskar Campos — one of the workers — will instruct anyone who works with him to use a shovel to pick up piles of waste instead of their hands.
