With five first-place finishes, Aberdeen claims first place at Grays Harbor Championships

Bobcats place first above 14 other teams, including 3A Lincoln and North Thurston

With five first-place finishes, the Aberdeen Bobcats took the team title at the Grays Harbor Championship boys prep wrestling meet on Saturday in Aberdeen.

Competing in a marathon tournament that featured wrestlers from 15 different prep teams, Aberdeen sent six grapplers to their respective weight-class final matches, with Roman Tadique, Talatheon Warness, Mikey Hatton, Michael Leontyev and Aidan Watkins each placing first in their divisions.

Aberdeen finalist Paul Baltazar placed second at 285 as the Bobcats finished with 243 points to take the team title ahead of 3A schools Lincoln (Tacoma) and North Thurston.

Led by a first-place finish by Gage Stutesman at 165 pounds, Montesano placed fourth overall with 106 points.

Hoquiam placed fifth with 87 points led by Oliver Bryson’s first-place victory in the 190-pound weight class and second-place finishes by Junior Soto at 120 pounds and Jacob Baudot at 150.

Ocosta’s Aiden Davis defeated Monte’s Matthew Causey via fall in the 144-pound final.

Other local wrestlers placing second in their respective weight class were Montesano’s Zane Dillard (106), North Beach’s Wyeland Lomedico (132), Elma’s Caiden Rademacher (138) and Willapa Harbor’s Lucas Swogger (165).
