Wednesday Prep Roundup: Lake Quinault downs Muckleshoot

Lake Quinault 15, Muckleshoot 2

Lake Quinault’s offense had no trouble handling Muckleshoot pitching as the Elks earned a 15-2 win on Wednesday in Auburn.

The Elks (2-6) scored four runs in the first and a pair of runs in both the second and third innings to take a commanding 8-0 lead before Muckleshoot got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third.

“I thought we ran the bases really well,” Lake Quinault head coach Keith Samplawski said. “We’ve been having trouble running in to outs and I though were were much smarter on the bases today.”

Juan Vega led the Elks at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double.

Javier Herrera and Brandon Dudley each drove in a pair of runs for Lake Quinault.

Jesus Mendoza scored three runs for the Elks and also picked up the win, allowing no earned runs on two hits in two innings pitched.

Lake Quinault’s Jesse Ferry pitched a perfect fifth inning to close out the game.
