Willapa Valley’s Adkins, Raymond’s Seydel earn WIBCA All-State nods

A pair of local standout seniors earned some top honors as the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association announced its all-state boys basketball teams for all classifications last week.

Willapa Valley’s Tyler Adkins and Raymond’s Tre’ Seydel were named to the 1B and 2B All-State Teams, respectively.

Adkins provided steady leadership for a Vikings team that won league and district titles and advanced to the state tournament.

The senior guard averaged 11.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for Willapa Valley in the 2021-22 season.

Seydel, one of the state’s top scorers in any classification, averaged 29.2 points, 9.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.2 steals per game.

Seydel scored 30 or more points in seven games this season and broke 40 points three times, including a season-high 44 in a win over Northwest Christian on Jan. 31.
