Bighill signs deal with New Orleans

Montesano native Adam Bighill, who spent the past six seasons with the Canadian Football League’s B.C. Lions, signed a three-year futures/reserve contract with the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday.

Bighill, 28, was a CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player award winner and the West Division Most Outstanding Player in 2015 and a four-time CFL All-Star as a linebacker for the Lions. In 99 games, Bighill is the Lions’ third-best defensive player with 576 total tackles, including 33 sacks and eight interceptions.

The Montesano and Central Washington University graduate was given a conditional release from B.C. in order for him to pursue an NFL career. A futures/reserve contract means Bighill is signed to the Saints for the 2017 season and will be a part of the team’s 90-man roster for training camp in August.

Montesano Little League signups set
