Clubbers placed 3rd in Lacey
The Aro Glass Clubber slow pitch softball team took third place with a record of 3-2 at the Roc at the Rac Tournament in Lacey on Sunday, Aug. 19.
Third basemen Larry Lytle was voted player of the tournament after hitting .667 in his first time on the field since suffering an injury. Wayne Ross, who batted .684 himself, noted that Lytle played strong defensively as well.
John Delia led the team in batting average, hitting .778 over the course of five games.
Other Clubbers notables were Bob Paylor and Mike Hatley, who batted .533 amd .510 for the tournament, respectively.
The Clubbers will play at the World Tournament in Las Vegas beginning Tuesday, Sept. 25.
Chokers open season with two losses
The Grays Harbor College women’s soccer team opened up its 2018 season with a pair of losses on the road in Tukwila.
The Chokers lost 4-0 against Blue Mountain on Thursday followed by a 4-1 setback to Treasure Valley on Friday.
Grays Harbor will face Green River on Saturday, Sept. 12 in Auburn.
