Aberdeen shortstop Hailey Wilson drove in a staggering seven runs to lead the Bobcats to a key 15-11 win over Shelton on Wednesday in Aberdeen.

Down 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth, Aberdeen (11-4, 9-4 2A Evergreen) scored seven runs in the frame to take a commanding 12-6 lead. Bobcats freshman Lilly Camp tied the game at 6-6 with an RBI single to open the floodgates.

Aberdeen scored a run on a bases-loaded walk to Zoe Vessey, a two-run single by Wilson, an RBI base knock by Maddie Gore, an Aili Scott swipe of home, an Emma Siano sac fly and a Merryn Bruner RBI single in the seven-run blitz.

Shelton (5-15, 4-13) responded with five runs in the sixth, cutting the deficit to 12-11 on an RBI triple by Danyka Squire.

But Aberdeen tacked on three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth, two on Wilson’s third hit of the game and another on a Gore sac fly.

Aberdeen reliever Abby Mainio pitched a scoreless seventh to pick up the save and preserve the Aberdeen victory.

The win combined with Rochester’s 6-1 loss to Centralia on Wednesday, means the Bobcats are 1.5 games up on the Warriors for third place in the 2A Evergreen League.

Aberdeen has three games left on its schedule, including a matchup against the Warriors in the regular-season finale at noon on Saturday.

The Bobcats will face Centralia at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Fort Borst Park in Centralia.

Eatonville 11, Pe Ell-Willapa Valley 10

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley lost a wild non-league matchup of two powerhouse teams, falling 11-10 in extra innings to Eatonville on Tuesday in Pe Ell.

PWV (14-3 overall) led 6-5 before Eatonville (14-3) scored a run in the top of the seventh inning on a Dakota Smith RBI single.

The Titans had the winning run on third base with two outs in the bottom of half of the seventh inning, but Raegan Portmann lined out to send the game into extra innings.

In the eighth, the Cruisers scored five runs — three on a Smith home run — to take a seemingly safe 11-6 lead.

But as many of their opponents have learned this season, no lead is safe against the Titans offense.

In the bottom of the eighth, PWV loaded the bases with two outs and Lauren Matlock at the plate. On a 1-1 pitch, Matlock smashed a home run to left field for a grand slam, pulling PWV to within a run at 11-10.

But the Titans would get no closer in suffering a loss in a game between two teams expected to compete for their respective state championships.

PWV is scheduled to face Adna in a non-league matchup at noon on Saturday in Pe Ell.
