Seattle Christian edges out Elma, 8-7, in softball

SEATTLE — Getting the opportunity to play before the district tournament, Elma scored two runs in the top of the seventh to tie this non-league contest before host Seattle Christian popped one run home for the win.

With the district tournament just a day or two away, the Eagles were edged by the Warriors, 8-7, on Monday afternoon.

Peyton Elliott led the Eagles (8-3 overall) with three hits, while Kaylee Rambo added two hits, including a home run, and two RBI.

The contest was moved to a turf field, which did not have an outfield fence. Elma head coach Roger Elliott noted that his team would have had more home runs if there was a fence.

“We just wanted to get some time on the field,” Elliott said. “We hadn’t played in a while, so it was nice to get a game in. It was good to see some pitches, get some solid at-bats.”

On Wednesday, Elma will start the District IV 1A tournament against White Salmon at noon at Borst Park in Centralia.
