Prep Roundup: Montesano adds win over 3A-class Timberline to resumé

Montesano High School’s softball and girls golf teams were victorious as we review Tuesday’s prep sports events on the Harbor.

PREP SOFTBALL

Montesano 4, Timberline 2

Montesano picked up an impressive win, beating Timberline 4-2 on Tuesday in Montesano.

The Bulldogs (15-3 overall) came from two runs behind to defeat the Blazers (13-2), the state’s third-ranked RPI team in the 3A classification.

Timberline scored its runs when Kassidy Jack hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning.

Monte scored a run in the bottom of the first on a two-out error, allowing left fielder Liv Robinson to cross the plate.

The Bulldogs tied the game in the third when senior pitcher Riley Timmons drew a walks with the bases loaded.

In the bottom of the fourth, Monte took the lead when catcher Ali Parkin singled to drive in outfielder Carsyn Wintrip.

First baseman Kylee Widsom singled to plate Robinson to put Monte up 4-2 with two outs in the fourth.

After allowing the first-inning home run to Jack, Timmons shut out the Blazers offense, retiring 14 batters in a row to end the game.

The Bulldogs host Forks at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

GIRLS PREP GOLF

Montesano 210, Seton Catholic 245

Montesano defeated Seton Catholic 210-245 on Tuesday at Tri-Mountain Golf Course in Ridgefield.

The Bulldogs were led by Hailey Blancas, who earned Medalist of the Match honors with a score of 43 over the 9-hole round.

Jessie LaLonde shot a 51 for Monte while Lucy Scott (54) and Maggi Kupka (62) rounded out Monte’s score.
