Elma wins three matches in three days
The Elma Eagles had a busy yet successful week, winning three straight matches in as many days.
On Tuesday, April 29, the Eagles traveled to the Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis to face Rochester, defeating the Warriors 213-266.
Eagles were led by their 1-2 punch of standouts Olivia Moore and Sophia Hamilton. Moore earned Medalist of the Match honors with a 9-hole score of 38 while Hamilton posted the second-best score of the match with a round of 45.
Kyla Rudy (64) and Amaya Lewis (66) rounded out Elma’s top four in the victory.
On Wednesday, the Eagles were back at Riverside to take on Adna, beating the Pirates 206-236.
Once again, Moore and Hamilton led the way with scores of 40 and 46, respectively, and were joined by Mercedes Carter (60) and Rudy (62) on the Eagles leaderboard.
Elma completed its three-day grind with a 195-226 win over King’s Way Christian on Thursday at Club Green Meadows in Vancouver.
Moore posted her lowest round of the week with a 36 followed by Hamilton (47), Lewis (54) and Rudy (58).

Montesano places 11th at Kitsap Invitational
Montesano placed 11th out of 12 teams as the only 1A-class school competing at the Kitsap Invitational Tournament on Tuesday, April 29 at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton.
Playing on the Cascade Course against a field largely comprised of 3A and 4A teams, Monte posted a team score of 508, led by Maggi Kupka, who shot a 95 over 18 holes to place 50th.
Lucy Scott (97, 52nd), Jessie LaLonde (102, 61st), Rory Gourdin (105, 67th) and Molly Krasowski (109, 73rd) rounded out the Bulldogs’ team score.
Monte’s Ashley Hill posted a score of 114 to place 77th overall.
“I am very proud of the girl’s performance, over a challenging 18 holes of golf,” Monte head coach Ken Waber said. “They played very well.”
Montesano followed up that performance with a 1-0 win over Fort Vancouver on Wednesday at the Fairway Village Golf Course in Vancouver.
The Bulldogs won via forfeit as Fort Vancouver had less than four golfers competing at the match.
Monte’s Rossi Newbill shot a 52 for a new personal-best, as did Avari Andersen with a 57.
Also posting scores on Wednesday were Rory Gourdin (58), Molly Krasowski (63), Ashley Hill (59) and Stevie Clezie (59).
Monte faces Elma at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Oaksridge Golf Course in Elma.

PREP TENNIS
Montesano 5, Tenino 1
Montesano won five of six matches to defeat Tenino 5-1 on Wednesday in Montesano.
The Bulldogs swept the three singles matches as Karissa Otterstetter, Izzie Taylor and Ella Hayes earned victories.
Monte’s doubles pairings of Emily Kuntz-Olivia Reynvaan and Kaycee Jones-Leah Noel also won to secure the Bulldogs victory.
“This is a great group of athletes and I’m proud of how much they’ve elevated their game the last couple weeks,” Montesano head coach Aaron Tubbs said. “Our team motto is ‘flip the switch’ and they have really learned what that means and embraced it.”

Aberdeen 4, Black Hills 3
(Aberdeen wins tiebreaker 7-6)
Aberdeen finished off the regular season with a close 7-6 win over Black Hills on Thursday in Aberdeen.
With the two teams tied after Aberdeen’s Sophie Knutson, Kensie Ervin and Madi Ritter each won their singles matches in straight sets, but Black Hills swept the doubles matches to end the contest at three matches apiece.
But the Bobcats doubles team of Kimberly Membreno and Natalie Mareth won the second set in their loss, giving Aberdeen the 7-6 tiebreaker on sets to win 4-3.
“We have a young team and I am proud of our growth and improvement over a very short season,” Bobcats head coach Ashley Kohlmeier said. “Our singles players dominated the year and are all coming back next season, which bodes well for the Bobcats.”
Aberdeen competes at the 2A Evergreen Conference Tournament on Monday in Tumwater.
