Aberdeen 18, Centralia 6

Aberdeen took care of business with an 18-6 win over Centralia on Monday in Centralia.

The Bobcats (9-8, 6-7 2A Evergreen) trailed 4-0 after one inning of play but fought back against the Tigers (1-18, 1-12) to take the lead with four runs in the third for a 5-4 lead.

A two-run single by outfielder Donavaan Hedgpeth in the fourth put the Cats up 8-5 and Aberdeen would go up 11-6 when a sacrifice fly by Tyce Greene drove in Hedgpeth in a three-run top of the sixth inning.

The Bobcats put the game away with seven runs in the top of the seventh, including RBI triples by Mason Hill and Bubba Jones and run-scoring singles from Aidan Baker, Chad Fretts and Greene.

Jones earned the win, allowing one earned run on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts in two innings of relief.

Hill started on the mound for the Cats, surrendering four earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts in two innings pitched.

With the win, Aberdeen sits in fourth place in the 2A Evergreen Conference, one game back of third-place Shelton.

Elma 9, Toledo 7

After letting a seven-inning lead slip away, Elma defeated Toledo 9-7 in extra innings on Monday in Toledo.

The Eagles (8-9-1) led 1-0 before scoring five runs in the top of the fifth, including a two-run double off the bat of Bryston Crawford.

But Toledo (13-7) rallied for five runs in to bottom half of the frame on two hits, two walks, an error and a hit batter.

Elma led 7-5 in the bottom of the seventh but allowed the Riverhawks to tie the game – thanks in large part to two key errors in the inning – to send the game to extra innings.

In the top of the eighth, Elma outfielder Isaac McGaffey scored on a Brody Palmer single followed later in the frame by a bases-loaded walk to Jackson Bucy for a 9-7 lead.

Palmer worked around a two-out walk to strike out the side in the bottom half of the eighth, preserving the Elma victory.

Palmer had four hits, scored two runs and stole three bases to lead Elma.
