Aberdeen 7, Black Hills 3

Aberdeen defeated Black Hills for the second time in as many games with a 7-3 win on Wednesday in Aberdeen.

Tied at 1-1 after one inning of play, the Bobcats (8-7, 5-6 2A Evergreen) took the lead for good with six runs in the bottom of the second, highlighted by a bases-loaded triple off the bat of catcher Sam Schreiber.

Aberdeen starting pitcher Gabe Matthews and reliever Tyce Greene made the lead stick, combining to allow one earned runs and three walks and seven hits to secure the victory.

Matthews earned the win, allowing an unearned run on four hits and three walks with six strikeouts in five innings of work.

Greene allowed two runs – one earned – on three hits in two innings of relief.

Schreiber was a perfect 3 for 3 to lead the Aberdeen offense, which drew five walks and benefited from four Wolves errors.

Aberdeen sits a half-game behind Shelton for third place in the 2A Evergreen Conference.

The Bobcats face first-place Tumwater at 4:30 p.m. on Friday in Tumwater.

Aberdeen 11, Black Hills 3

Aberdeen took advantage of Black Hills mistakes to earn an 11-3 win on Tuesday at Black Hills High School.

The Bobcats scored seven unearned runs in the game thanks to nine Wolves errors.

Aberdeen took a 7-0 lead after two and a half innings thanks in large part to a four-run top of the third, highlighted by a two-run single from outfielder Donvaan Hedgpeth and an RBI base by first baseman Mylan Bruner.

Hedgpeth, left fielder Gabe Matthews and third baseman Mason Hill had two hits apiece to lead the Bobcats offense.

Aberdeen pitcher Chad Fretts earned a complete-game victory, allowing two earned runs on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts in seven innings.

Montesano 9, Rochester 1

Montesano moved another step closer to securing the 1A Evergreen League title with a 9-1 win over Rochester on Tuesday in Rochester.

The top-ranked Bulldogs (13-2, 7-1 1A Evergreen) scored three runs in the top of the first to take an early led over the Warriors (8-6, 6-4). Bulldogs infielder Zach Timmons drove in center fielder Tyson Perry and later came in to score on a passed ball. Monte catcher Colton Grubb scored on a wild pitch in the inning.

Monte added a run in the third when Grubb scored on a wild pitch and another in the fifth when Perry crossed the plate on a wild pitch.

The Bulldogs put the game away with three runs in the top of the seventh, highlighted by a Caden Grubb RBI single, to earn the 9-1 win.

Kolson Hendrickson earned the win for Monte, allowing an earned run on six hits with six strikeouts in tossing a complete game.

Perry went 2 for 3, stole two bases and scored three runs for a Monte offense that scored more runs (8) than it had base hits (6).

Two Warriors pitchers combined to walk five batters and threw five wild pitches, three of which allowed Montesano runners to score.

The Bulldogs hold a two-game lead over both the Warriors and Tenino for the top spot in the 1A Evergreen League standings.

Monte faces Hoquiam in a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Olympic Stadium in Hoquiam.

Tenino 15, Hoquiam 2

A disastrous second inning led to Hoquiam’s 15-2 mercy-rule loss to Tenino on Tuesday in Hoquiam.

The Grizzlies (3-8, 0-6) trailed 1-0 to the Beavers (13-4, 6-4) after one inning of play and saw the game get away from them in top of the second inning. In the frame, Tenino scored 13 runs on six hits, five walks and two errors to put the game away.

Hoquiam scored its two runs in the bottom of the second when Tristan Bland scored on the Beavers’ second error of the inning.

Infielder Aden Hartt crossed the plate on a wild pitch later in the frame to make it a 14-2 game.

Grizzlies left fielder Daymond Cole and first baseman Ryan Pullar had two hits apiece to lead Hoquiam.

Joey Bozich took the loss for the Grizzlies, allowing eight runs – six earned – on five hits and two walks in 1 1-3 innings pitched.

Four Hoquiam pitcher combined to allow seven earned runs on 12 hits and seven walks with two strikeouts.

The Grizzlies two errors in the second inning led to eight unearned runs for Tenino.

Hoquiam hosts Montesano in a doubleheader set to start at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Raymond-South Bend 17, Chief Leschi 2

Raymond-South Bend cruised past Chief Leschi with a 17-2 mercy-rule victory in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday in Puyallup.

The Ravens (5-9, 4-3 2B Pacific) scored nine runs in the top of the third inning on four hits, two walks, two hit batters and two errors.

RSB took an 11-0 lead when first baseman Preston Toepelt singled to drive in Keenan Nichols and Nolen Miller for an 11-0 lead.

The Ravens added five more runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run double by Miller and a two-run double from Nichols, to take a 16-0 lead.

Nichols earned the win, allowing two unearned runs on two hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in five innings pitched.

Miller, Nichols and center fielder Jonah Rumbles had two hits apiece for RSB.
