Ocosta girls soccer kicks off season with shutout win

Denny scores twice as Wildcats blank Winlock, 4-0

The Ocosta Wildcats girls soccer team kicked off the truncated prep season with a convincing 4-0 shutout over Winlock on Monday in Westport.

Ocosta (1-0 overall) doubled its lead two minutes later when Schaeffer assisted on a goal by sophomore Meghan Denny.

Denny scored her second goal of the evening just before halftime, netting home a feed from sophomore Miki Ness to give Ocosta a 3-0 lead in the 45th minute.

Denny returned the favor in the 55th minute, feeding Ness for the Wildcats’ fourth and final goal of the game.

Ocosta goalkeeper Devyn Martin recorded four saves to get the shutout, assisted by a strong defense led by Maia Soderlund, Trinity White, Gabby Ness and Taeler Jardine.

Ocosta had 27 shot attempts to seven for Winlock.

The Wildcats travel to Adna for a league game on Wednesday.
