NWAC events postponed, cancelled amid health concerns

Grays Harbor men’s basketball, softball affected

The Corona virus outbreak has interfered with local Grays Harbor College sporting events.

The Chokers men’s basketball team’s NWAC Tournament game originally scheduled for Saturday at Everett Community College has been postponed until further notice.

Also, the Inter-Regional Softball Tournament, featuring Grays Harbor, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in Lacey has been cancelled.

Notices from the NWAC regarding these issues are as follows:

From NWAC Executive Director Marco Azurdia

Following is the latest update regarding the basketball tournament and health concerns: The NWAC Basketball Championship Tournament is cancelled for the rest of this week. NWAC is working to try and reschedule the tournament for next week and is in communication with venues who may be able to host the championship tournament. As details are finalized, information will be shared via the NWAC website.

At this time, Everett Community College has no evidence that places the student(s) with the health issue in the Walt Price Center/Gymnasium. I will be in contact with the Everett Administration sometime tomorrow morning and will provide you additional updates.

From the NWAC website

In consultation with the RAC and the NWAC Softball Committee Chair Cassie Belmodis, the NWAC Softball Tournament for this weekend has been cancelled. The City of Lacey has cancelled major crowd activities in their county. This is situation seems to be changing by the hour and you are encouraged to follow the CDC, state and local health authorities guidelines.
