Pe Ell-Willapa Valley closed out a perfect regular season with an 11-1 five-inning victory over Elma on Monday in Pe Ell.

The Titans (14-0 overall, 12-0 2B Pacific) hammered 17 hits, led by infielders Merissa Frasier (4-4, 2 2B, RBI) and Annika Mason (4-4, 2B, 3R, 2RBI) both of whom went a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish.

Elma (1-13, 1-10 1A Evergreen) got on the board early when Janessa Sample connected for a solo home run against PWV staring pitcher Olivia Matlock in the top of the first inning.

But it was all PWV after that as the Titans scored three in each of the first two innings, four in the fourth and a run in the fifth to earn a 10-run rule walk-off victory.

Ava Bush (3-4, 4RBI) led PWV by driving in four runs and Sadie Howard (2-3) also had a multi-hit game for the Titans.

Matlock allowed just the home run to Sample in the game, striking out three with no walks in five innings pitched to pick up the win.

PWV head coach Ken Olson said Elma was “much improved” compared to when the two teams faced off in a March 26 season-opener and the Eagles offense challenged his defense.

“(Elma) put the ball in play,” he said, adding the Titans defense made five “tough plays” in the infield and no errors in the game. “Our infield played lights out tonight. … I’m really excited about our defense right now.”

PWV enters this week’s 2B District 4 Tournament as the No. 2 team in the state behind district rival Adna.
