Ocosta lost three key players to injury in a 5-0 non-league loss to Kalama on Monday in Westport.

Kalama (3-1-1 overall) scored three minutes into the game before the injury bug bit the Wildcats (3-2).

Ocosta, which started the game with just 13 available players, lost defender Kennedy Reynolds to a knee injury in the 25th minute.

The Chinooks immediately took advantage, scoring goals in the 30th and 33rd minutes to put the Wildcats into a 3-0 deficit.

Just a few minutes later, Ocosta midfielder Kylee Denny left the game with a concussion.

Kalama, which dotted Ocosta keeper Mia Saunders with shots throughout the game, scored again in the 51st and 70th minutes to secure the victory.

Ocosta’s top offensive threat, junior forward Miki Ness, left the game with two minutes remaining in the contest.

“We held together through some rough times tonight, and I was pleased with the overall effort,” Ocosta head coach Mike King said. “We had to move our three starting forwards to defense and they held their own in new positions.”

Saunders made 12 saves in the game and King commended the play of Trinity White, Gabby Ness, Miki Ness and Natalie Carloza.

Ocosta is scheduled to play a non-league match against Toledo at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
