A pair of cousins helped the Grays Harbor Chokers men’s golf team in an NWAC conference meet as we review Monday’s sports on the Twin Harbors.

MEN’S COLLEGE GOLF

Wasson cousins lead GHC in league match

Cousins Cole and Brett Wasson each placed in the top 10 to lead the Grays Harbor Chokers in a Northwest Athletic Conference league match on the McCormick Woods Golf Club in Port Orchard on Monday.

Cole Wasson shot 73 and 77 for a two-round total of 150 to place fifth overall. Cole Wasson’s score of 73 (even par) led the field after the first round.

Brett Wasson shot a 154 over 36 holes to place eighth, carding an 80 in Round 1 and a 74 in Round 2.

Rasmus Tamker shot a 162 (80-82) and Hayden Hayes totaled 175 (93-82) to help the Chokers place fifth overall and earn five points toward qualifying for the NWAC Conference Championships later this season.

GHC hosts a conference meet on Monday and Tuesday at The Home Course in DuPont.

PREP TENNIS

Aberdeen 3, Shelton 3

(Aberdeen wins 8-6 on sets)

Aberdeen’s girls tennis team earned a tiebreaker-win over Shelton on Monday in Aberdeen.

The Bobcats (2-1-1) swept the singles matches while Shelton won all three doubles matches, leading to a tiebreaker situation to determine the victor.

Having won eight sets to six for Shelton, Aberdeen was determined the winner.

Cats top singles player Kallie Knutson handled her opponent 6-2, 6-1 while Madi Ritter and Sophie Knutson combined to win 24 of 25 games played.

“Our season is just getting underway after a lot of rainouts to start the season. We have a young and hungry team,” Aberdeen head coach Ashley Kohlmeier said.

Aberdeen, which has dealt with several rainouts this season, hosts W.F. West at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Kallie Knutson (Aberdeen) defeated Willow Lovingfour (Shelton) 6-2, 6-1.

Madi Ritter (A) def. Evelyn Allen (S) 6-0, 6-1.

Sophie Knutson (A) def. Josefina Francisco Zarcarias 6-0, 6-0.
