COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Southwest Oregon 89, Grays Harbor 74

Three Chokers in double figures wasn’t enough to overcome Southwest Oregon’s scoring output in Grays Harbor’S 89-74 loss on Saturday.

Despite giving up some size to the Lakers (1-2 overall), the Chokers came away with a slight rebounding edge 43-40.

Sandin Kidder led the way with 26 points and 10 rebounds while Aromonnie Byrd chipped with a double-double of her own with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Chokers (0-2) were outscored in every quarter and suffered from a slow start after halftime, with the Lakers outscoring the Chokers 25-18.

Grays Harbor head coach Chad Allan said the game is another learning experience for his young team.

“We just could not get enough stops and match Southwest Oregon’s size and energy,” he said. “These freshman are being taught a lot of lessons. The future will show if we are learning.”

The Chokers will look for their first win of the season at Clark College in Vancouver at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
