RAYMOND — Raymond struggled on both sides of the ball at home, falling to Ilwaco in a SWW 2B Coastal Division game Friday.

Ilwaco opened the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run followed by a 3-yard touchdown run both in the first quarter. Ilwaco’s second extra point was no good. With 31 seconds left in the half, the Fishermen found the end zone by way of a 7-yard pass, with another failed extra point attempt following to make the score 19-0 at the break.

The second half again opened with an Ilwaco touchdown, this time on a 12-yard run with 8:10 left in the quarter. The extra point attempt was again no good.

Raymond’s lone score came with 10:15 left in the game when Jack Jordan connected with Brandt Rockwell for a 58-yard touchdown pass. Reese Garcia’s extra point attempt was good.

“Offensively we had trouble moving the ball, our line wasn’t creating a line of scrimmage,” said Raymond coach Luke Abbott. “Our backs weren’t running as hard as I would like them to.”

McCartney Maden led the Seagulls in rushing with 63 yards on 12 touches. Raymond’s only attempted, and completed, pass resulted in their only touchdown.

Raymond (1-0, 2-4) hosts Ocosta on Friday.
