Three current Gonzaga players and a former Zag have been selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Honors Court.

Josh Perkins, Alex Martin, Jack Beach and former Zag Brian Pete received the honor, which academically recognizes juniors and seniors from the 2018 season who have been at their school for at least one year and carry a grade-point average of 3.2 or higher.

It’s a repeat honor for Perkins, who has completed his undergraduate degree in sport management. The senior point guard, a two-time Academic All-WCC selection, made the 2018 Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association’s Scholar-Athlete team.

Perkins was first-team All-WCC last season after averaging 12.3 points, 5.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds.

Pete went from team manager to walk-on in December when the Zags encountered a series of injuries. Pete, who played in seven games, graduated in business management.

Beach, who played in 15 games as a redshirt sophomore, has an undergraduate degree in business administration. Martin, who saw time in four contests, is a sport management major.

Six EWU players honored

Led by graduated forward Bogdan Bliznyuk, six Eastern Washington men’s basketball players were named to the NABC Honors Court.

The Eagles had the most honorees in the Big Sky Conference.

Joining Bliznyuk is senior Benas Griciunas, and underclassmen Cody Benzel, Ty Gibson, Jesse Hunt and Grant Gibb.

Idaho’s Nate Sherwood was the lone Vandal to earn NABC recognition.
