“The boys wrestled good,” Aberdeen head coach Jeff Hatton said. “Everybody wrestles this match harder and it’s always a tough match. … They always come whether it’s on our side of Myrtle (Street) or their side of Myrtle.”

The Bobcats also picked up forfeit wins by Isaac Cisneros (182), Paul Baltazar (285) and Talatheon Warness (106), earning six points per victory.

For Hoquiam head coach TJ Helland, getting his young team some much-needed experience is important in the early season.

“The biggest thing is we are super young, we are super green and we have a lot of kids still in single-digit matches in their life,” he said. “We’re going to use this as a starting point. We’ll wrestle these guys again in a month and we’ll see how much we’ve adjusted.”

Both the Bobcats and Grizzlies will make an appearance at the Grays Harbor County Championships on Saturday in Aberdeen.
