Eight local student-athletes named to All-State teams

Montesano’s Granstrom, Ocosta’s Mitby and Furford named First Team

A total of eight Twin Harbors area athletes were named to Washington State Soccer Coaches Association’s All-State teams as announced late last week.

Four local student-athletes were named to the 1A squad, including Montesano defender Katie Granstrom, who was the only player from the 1A Evergreen League named to the section’s First Team.

Montesano’s Anna Ayres and Elma’s Brooke Sutherby were both named to the Second Team as forwards.

Monte sophomore Brooke Streeter was named to the section’s Honorable Mention list as a midfielder.

Four Ocosta soccer players were named to the 1B/2B All-State team, led by midfielder Teal Mitby and defender Piper Furford, both of whom were named First Team.

Ocosta’s Katelynn Denny made the Second Team as a forward while teammate Kristi Raffelson was named the section’s Second Team goaltender.
