BOYS TENNIS

T-Birds 3-3 Bobcats

TUMWATER — Aberdeen picked up two of the three wins in the singles matches and got a win in the doubles matches, but didn’t win enough games as Tumwater escaped with a 3-3 (52-44) tiebreaker win in Evergreen 2A play on Wednesday.

Luis Garcia and Harlan Troy each won in straight sets for the Bobcats, with No. 3 doubles team Aaron Larson and Patric Haerle won in three sets.

“It should have been all three (singles), darn it,” AHS head coach Andy Duffy said. “Our No. 2 and 3 singles all played very well. We should have taken the singles and the third doubles match. Tumwater had buzzsaws in the first two doubles matches. I like our chances the next time we face them.”

On Friday, Aberdeen (1-1) hosts Centralia.

Cade Williams (T) def. Ryan Solan 6-2, 0-6, 6-2. Luis Garcia (A) def. John Drohman 6-2, 6-0. Harlan Troy (A) def. Ethan Dillon 6-3, 6-1. Carl Meyers-Weston Weller (T) def. BOYS GOLF

Cougars 172, Bulldogs 194

RIDGEFIELD — Led by Sean Ball’s 39, Seton Catholic downed Montesano in a Southwest Washington 1A League contest Tuesday at the Tri-Mountain Golf Course.

Matthew Plato topped the Bulldogs with a 46.

“Tri-Mountain is a par-37 course, so in spite of the loss I still feel good about some of the scores we were able to put up, especially on an unfamiliar course,” Monte coach Lloyd Aldrich reported. “Matthew and Noah (Quinn) are both hitting the ball very consistently.”

The Bulldogs host King’s Way Christian today at Oaksridge Golf Course.

Montesano (194) — Matthew Plato 46, Payson Parker 54, Ryan Nicholson 48, Ben Royer 53, Austin Peterson 51, Noah Quinn 49.

Seton Catholic (172) — Nate Kutch 41, Sean Ball 39, Brett Filuke 53, Tyler Davis 45, Nick Lamberton 50, Andrew Parker 47.

C.C. Women’s Soccer

Gators 10, Chokers 1

AUBURN — Grays Harbor College’s Mary Davis scored in the 18th minute to tie this NWAC Western Division match at 1-1 before Green River pulled away for the win on Wednesday.

Davis, an Ocosta grad, received a through ball from Brittani Snook and scored for the Chokers.

“(Green River) found our weakness on defense pretty quickly with their speed,” GHC head coach Chris Schumacher said. “We’ve been emphasizing playing as one, rotating and covering each other on defense. They killed us up top, through ball after through ball. We had some good opportunities, but the goals just didn’t happen.”

On Sunday, GHC (0-2, 1-4-1) hosts Lower Columbia at Stewart Field.
