Aberdeen’s boys swimming team honors its seniors on Monday afternoon, then went out and gave them one final home victory of the season.

Splitting all 12 events with visiting River Ridge, the Bobcats used their depth and experience to finish their regular-season dual meet schedule with a 106-67 victory over the Hawks at the YMCA of Grays Harbor pool.

Seniors Robby Lewis, Anthony Churlin, Uriel Santiago and Gabriel Baquero were honored at their final home dual meet with flowers, balloons and a bridge of honor created by their teammates with kick boards and candy leis.

“The boys had an amazing day,” AHS head coach Angela Durr said. “All of the events I wanted to win we won. Many of the boys had best times and we have not even begun to reduce our yards at practice yet.

“Winning on our Senior night is an added bonus,” coach Durr added. “Robby Lewis’ dedication to swimming and our team has been an honor to watch over the last 4 years. Uriel Santiago, Gabriel Baquero and Anthony Churlin have worked incredibly hard this season and watching them become competitive in the sport gives me great pride. I am glad we had a great day for our seniors.”

Lewis won two individual events — the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 butterfly — and was on the fly leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay with Jared Durr, Kai Kawashima and Conner Gates. Kawashima won the diving event for the Bobcats, with Durr winning the 500 freestyle and Gates won the 100 backstroke.

Durr was the lead-off leg in the 400 freestyle relay, with Tanner Williams, Jordan Rounsivill and Sage Bridges, to cap the meet.

Coach Durr cited Gates for his 50-free anchor leg in the 200 medley relay, along with Williams qualifying for the district meet in the 100 backstroke, Aaron Dyer for his swims in the distance events and Brennan Munoz for his time drops in all of his events.

On Saturday, Aberdeen will travel down to Mark Morris High School in Longview for the Southwest Washington Invitational.
