Wilma Spike

Wilma Spike was born in Tacoma, Wash., to William and Winifred Gemmell.
She passed away on Sept. 11, 2018, in Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash., with her son Patrick by her side.
She is survived by her son Patrick; her sister Gerri Burnett; cousins Arlene Ahiers, Duane Blair, Paula Beatty and her many loving and caring friends.
Wilma loved her home in Ocean Shores, Wash., and was active in various community projects. Her favorite was a charity project she started called the Ocean Shores Woof-a-thon, which over the years raised more than $60,000 for several animal-related agencies. This past year, do to health issues, she was forced to pass the helm of this organization to others and she was most appreciative of these participants who kept her beloved project going. She was able to attend the event in August and enjoyed seeing the continuation of her project.
All throughout her life she promoted the care and adoption of pets through various agencies.
Wilma will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Her memorial celebration will be held Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, at noon at the Lions Club of Ocean Shores, Wash.
