William “Bill” Norvell, age 81, longtime Ocosta resident, passed away on June 5, 2017, at University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, from heart disease. He was born on Feb. 4, 1936, in Garnett, Kan., to Mattie (Hale) and William G. Norvell. He was raised in Contra Costa County, Calif., and attended Pinole High School. He attended Edison Tech College and obtained a degree as a draftsman.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1957 and the USN Reserves from 1957-1961. He worked as a building inspector for Grays Harbor County from 1982-1992 and owned and operated Norvell & Associates. Bill enjoyed old cars.
Bill is survived by his wife Susan Snow (Bratt) of Elko, Nev.; sons William and Mike Norvell, Fred Bitz, John and George DeMore and Joshua Norvell; daughters Dorrit Myton, Carol DeMore, Heidi DeMore and Angelina Christensen; brother Gene of Bandon, Ore.; grandchildren James, Kaylan, Nicholas, Dan, Mathew, Jessica, Arrisa, Tate, Stevie, William, Jansen, Joshua, Kyler, Destiny, Alicia, Kelsey, Robert, Alex, Joshua, Nichole and great-grandchildren Maysen, Kayden, also Dylan, Alyssa, Regan and arriving June 19, Karsen. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clyde, Gerald and Robert and his sister Betty along with ex-wives Patricia Haver and Charlene Ross
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at John’s River Lodge, 1564 State Route 105, Aberdeen (21 and over). Family and friends will gather at Summit Raceway in Elko, Nev., on Sept. 16, 2017.
