Lifelong Aberdeen resident Wilber “Sonny” Edward Charlton Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021. He was 74. Sonny was born March 14, 1947, in Aberdeen, Washington to Wilber and Marjorie (Johnson) Charlton.
Sonny was drafted in 1967 and proudly served as a sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was discharged in 1969.
On Nov. 17, 1967, he married the love of his life Lorna Broten in Aberdeen. She survives him at the family home.
Sonny had worked for Weyerhaeuser Pulp Mill as a mason for 35 years.
He loved to fish, camp and go metal detecting.
In addition to his loving wife Lorna, he is also survived by sons Jeffory and Mike and daughter Julie Charlton all of Aberdeen; four grandchildren: Jennifer, Megan, Hunter and Harrison and one great granddaughter, Jaydyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dennis Charlton.
There will be no formal services. Memorials are suggested to cancer research.
