Walter Duvall Stanley

Walter Duvall Stanley (AKA The Duke) was born in Kent, on Dec. 2, 1938, to Bill and Mary Stanley.

Walter Duvall Stanley (AKA The Duke) was born in Kent, Washington on Dec. 2, 1938, to Bill and Mary Stanley. He and his sisters Linda and Diane grew up in Georgetown and Burien. He attended Highline High School then joined the Navy in 1957.

He was stationed on aircraft carriers as a flight deck captain.

After being discharged from the service he started work at Boeing. He resigned a few years later to own and manage two car washes in Burien and Bellevue. He also worked as a firefighter and auto mechanic until eventually going back to Boeing in January of 1973 where he worked until he retired in 1994.

He married the love of his life Lorraine in 1959, living in Burien until moving to the Washington coast after retirement. He passed on June 3, 2022 at age 83.

He had many hobbies including old cars and home remodeling, he loved to travel and go camping.

Walter is survived by his wife Lorraine, daughter Cindy (Kevin), sons Kelly (Michelle), Bill (Wendy) and Vance; grandchildren: Erin, Miranda, Michael (Amanda), Chelsey (Kevin), Courtney, Katie and Scott and great-grandchildren: Lillianna, Kourtney, Jackalynn, Sinclair, Audrey and Aiden.

A service will be held the last weekend in July at the annual family reunion.
