Virginia K. Orkney, a long-time resident of Raymond, died Wednesday, August 4, 2021, in Olympia. She was 89 years old. Virginia was born Feb. 21, 1932, in Tucson, Arizona to Laren (Larry) and Stella Reeves.
She married Henry Orkney Nov. 24, 1950, at the Raymond United Methodist Church. She spent most of her working years in the insurance business and retired from Farmers Insurance. Virginia was a member of the Eagles, VFW and Legion auxiliaries. She loved dancing, family gatherings, to travel and camp with the Belles and Buoys camping group and went on several cruises. She enjoyed her crossword and jigsaw puzzles, word games, pinochle and other card games. She was also active in the community.
Virginia is survived by three sons Jim (Andrea) Orkney of Centralia, John (Lauri) Orkney of Raymond, Tom (Kari) Orkney of New Hampshire. She is also survived by one brother, Roger (Marsha) Reeves of Tenino, four grandchildren, Chris, Kari, Brittney, Cody and five great-grandchildren, Aaron, Joseph, Bailee, Ashley and Ellie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by husband Henry and two sisters Doris Bailey and Shirley Kinney Barry.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo.
