Verlene “Dee” Morrison, 78, passed away with family by her side at her home in Shelton on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017. She was born April 6, 1939, to Everett and Angeline Bray in Grays Harbor County, Wash.

Dee is survived by her children, Debbie Scott of Elma, Deanie Madler (Ron) of Poulsbo, Jill Morrison of Port Angeles, and Jack Morrison (Megan) of Shelton, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are: Paul Bray, Wayne Bray, and Mary Crick.

Dee was preceded in death by her husband Don Morrison, son Rex Morrison, brothers Lester and Dale Bray, and sister Catherine Davis.

Dee graduated from Elma High School in 1957. She married the love of her life, Don Morrison, Feb. 18, 1957. They moved to Shelton where they raised five children. Dee was a homemaker until Don’s death in 1974. She subsequently worked outside the home and later married Lyle “Pat” Dugger, but was soon widowed again. She then went back to school and earned a college degree and then had a long, successful career with Washington State Department of Social and Health Services until her retirement. Dee enjoyed a very active retirement. She traveled, exercised, read, took classes, volunteered and socialized with her many friends and family.

Dee is remembered as a kind, loving, and gentle soul. She overcame seemingly insurmountable losses in her life with dignity and class. She always believed in her loved ones, gave them courage, and taught them love and forgiveness. She was a positive influence to everyone she knew.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Pavilion, 190 W Sentry Drive, Shelton Wash. on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at 2 p.m.
