Taisto Peter Lammi, 78, passed away at his home in Hoquiam, Washington, on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Taisto was born on July 1, 1942, in Manitoba, Canada, to Vihtori “Leonard” and Aili Lammi.
Their family moved to the United States when Taisto was a small child, and he grew up in Westport, attending school in the Ocosta District. After graduating from high school he went on to get his bachelor’s degree and served in the United States Air Force.
Taisto worked for the Department of Defense and was always secretive about what he did for work.
He loved computers and electronics, and was fond of watching the night sky through his telescope, astronomy being a favorite hobby of his.
Taisto is survived by his brother: Toivo “Tony” Lammi of Grayland, Washington; two nieces: Susan King of Leavenworth, Washington and Dianne Lammi of Manilius, New York; a nephew; Neal Lammi of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; as well as great-nieces and nephews Devon Gray, Casey Hanson, Jennifer Schuss, Jesse Schuss; Madison Hanson, Dante and Romero Schuss.
A private graveside service will be held at Fern Hill Cemetery with a private family celebration of life at a later date.
Burial arrangements are by Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
