Steven (Steve) D. Reynvaan, passed away Monday, May 25, 2020, in Tacoma General Hospital. Steve was born in Hoquiam, Washington, Jan. 6, 1948, to Jack and Beatrice (Bea) Reynvaan. He attended grade school in Hoquiam. His family moved to Sitka, Alaska, where he attended school until his senior year when the family moved back to Hoquiam and he graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1966. He attended University of Puget Sound (1969-71) and attended St. Martin’s University (1976-77). Steven received his B.A. in elementary education, with majors in social studies and history and a minor in mathematics. He was a substitute teacher for the Hoquiam School District from 1978-1986. He was an elementary sport coach for Hoquiam School District from 1981-1986. In addition, he was a coach and manager for Hoquiam Little League (Grays Harbor Hardwood) from 1970-1982 as well as coaching Hoquiam Girls’ Slowpitch from 1977-1984. Steve worked at Grays Harbor Electronics, Radio Shack, and Disc Jockey. He also refereed for many basketball games throughout Grays Harbor. He was a Civil War buff, avid reader, enjoyed hiking, fishing, and going to the beach. He was also a great photographer displaying several pictures around his home.

On Oct. 19, 1991, Steve married Judy Wirta; they attended Aberdeen First Presbyterian Church later attended Hoquiam United Methodist Church until his passing. Steve was a doting grandfather to his granddaughters Nadia and Ella and was a consistent part of their lives. Steve is survived by his wife Judy; stepdaughter Nikkol (Ted) Daniels of Aberdeen; granddaughters, Nadia Wirta and Ella Daniels, all of Aberdeen; brothers, Gerry Reynvaan of Montesano, Greg (Joann) Reynvaan of Aberdeen, Keith (Patti) Reynvaan, Dennis (Tammy) Reynvaan of Hoquiam; and sister Sharon (Gene) Kennedy of California and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents: Jack and Bea Reynvaan, and his sister Jackie (Ray) Simbe.

Memorials can be made to Union Gospel Mission and/or Grays Harbor Music Teachers Association Music Scholarship.
