On Aug. 30, 2022, Steven Ray Nelson passed away at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia with his family by his side.

Steve was born on May 9, 1951, to Ray and Virginia Nelson of Tokeland. He spent much of his life as a successful commercial fisherman and cattle rancher. Steve had many boats built over his lifetime that still commercially fish along the West Coast today. He spent most of his ocean time in Washington and Alaska fishing primarily crab and salmon but he also loved to fish for crab in Brookings, Oregon where he lived later in his life.

Steve enjoyed many things about life but he loved razor clam digging, planting trees, driving fast cars, and of course his friends and family.

Steve is survived by his three children: Scott Nelson, Anne Eschels and Kim Nelson; his six grandchildren: Rachel, Katie, Lauren, Josie, Brandon and Evan; and his three great-grandchildren: Keydan, Zayden and Krew.

Steve will be laid to rest in the historic family cemetery in Oysterville, Washington.
