On Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, Stephen Eugene Robecker passed away at the age of 78. Steve was born on Dec. 18, 1941, in Aberdeen, Washington, son of Charles and Ardath Heacox. He raised three sons, Mark, Todd and David and remained and worked locally, most notably 23 years as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 and 43 combined service years as a volunteer and paid firefighter/EMT with the Montesano Fire Department and Grays Harbor Fire District 2.
Steve will be remembered for his quick wit, endless jokes and hospitality. Friends were abundant as he never met a stranger, and he always had a story to tell. He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid huntsman and sport fisherman. He supported local conservation organizations such as Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Ducks Unlimited and Coastal Conservation Association, and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and son, David. He is survived by his wife Norma, sons Mark (Kari) and Todd, stepchildren; Brian (Lynn) Briscoe, Luke (Nicky) Briscoe and Haley (Chris) Leamer, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Chapman Farms, 239 Brady Loop Road E., Montesano. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Montesano Volunteer Firefighter Association, c/o Montesano Fire Department.
