Stanley Roy McManemy, 74 years of age and a lifetime Harborite, died on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center in Montesano, Washington. He was born on Nov. 13, 1945, in Aberdeen to Robert V. and Catherine E. (Carlson) McManemy.
He was raised and attended school in Aberdeen, attending Robert Gray Elementary, Miller Junior High School and then Aberdeen Weatherwax High School where he was a member of the 1965 graduating class. This class was the biggest graduating class with a total of 465. While attending school he participated in various types of sports. He also helped around the family home with the chores.
He served with the United States Army from Sept. 21, 1967, until Sept. 21, 1969.
He returned to the Harbor area again and worked for Grays Harbor Veneer until 1976. From 1976 through 2001 he worked at Mayr Brothers in Hoquiam.
Stanley McManemy was married to Roberta M. Meyer on Aug. 14, 1976, in Aberdeen. She died on Oct. 15, 2004.
Stanley enjoyed hunting, fishing and picking little wild blackberries. He would pick between 20 to 30 gallons of blackberries every year and these he would give away to his friends.
Stanley Roy McManemy is survived by his daughter, Jennifer A. Jones of Aberdeen; a grandson, Tanner Jones of Aberdeen; a brother, Tom McManemy of Pahrump, Nevada and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, at the Quinault Cemetery in Quinault, Washington with Rev. Brad Gill officiating.
