Shirley Blanche Brooks died on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023. Shirley was born on Sept. 18, 1935 to Earl and Eva Dotson in Elma, Washington. She was raised in Elma and graduated from Elma High School in 1954. Shortly after school, she was married to Wayne Lamphiear on Aug. 23 1954, in Centralia, Washington. Later in life, Shirley remarried John (Jack) Brooks on July 4, 1977, in Reno, Nevada.

Shirley worked for the County Auditor’s Office, Elma Variety Store and the Aberdeen Elks. She had many involvements in the Elks, Elma Eagles and the Grays Harbor Rock Club. Her hobbies included collecting various rocks, card making, art and traveling.

Shirley is survived by her sons: Jerry (Cyndy) Lamphiear of Fairfield, California; Greg (Bev) Brooks of Federal Way, Washington; John C. Brooks of Elma, Washington; and Stephen Lamphiear of Elma, Washington; daughters: Laura (Bob) Hirche of Sheridan, Wyoming; Jean (Brian) Braaten of Aberdeen, Washington; and Donna (Carl) Robbins of Aberdeen, Washington; brother Darrell (Donna) Dotson of Rainer, Washington; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Brooks; parents Earl and Eva Dotson; brothers Rich Dotson and Gary Dotson, son Michael C. Brooks, and daughter Cheryl (Brooks) Norton.

A celebration of life will be held at the Elma Eagles on Feb. 19, 2023, at 1 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Feb. 20, 2023, at 11 a.m. Donations can be made to Elma FOE.
