Shirley Anne Ward, age 78, a resident of the North River area, died on Jan. 21, 2025, at her home in Cosmopolis. Shirley was born in Albany, Oregon on March 22, 1946, to Mhynard Louis John and Hattie Naomi (Twining) Wink. She graduated from Albany Memorial High School, then attended nursing school at Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington.
In 1967, she began her nursing career at Community Hospital in Aberdeen, where she worked as a registered nurse until retiring in 1995.
Shirley loved watching sporting events that her grandchild was in and was an avid Huskies, Mariners and Seahawks fan. She enjoyed her monthly bunco games with friends.
Surviving relatives include her partner, Debbie M. Hamilton of the family home; a daughter, Carla Rae Masters (Bryan); grandchildren, R.J. Miller, Casey Summers and Taylor Summers; two siblings, Cecil Wink (Gloria) and Leo Wink (Patty); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by siblings, Duane Wink, Donna Sigmund, Lyle Wink and Leroy Wink.
A celebration of life is being planned at the Hoquiam Senior Center on Shirley’s birthday, March 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
