Shayne Darlene Townsend passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at her Aberdeen home. She was 71. Shayne was born on June 23, 1945, to James and Myrtle (Reider) Williams in Stamford, Conn. In 1956, the family relocated to Aberdeen, Wash., where Shayne graduated with the Weatherwax High School class of 1963.
While growing up, Shayne met Roy Edward Townsend. They wed on Dec. 25, 1962, in Aberdeen, Wash. Together they enjoyed 54 years of marriage.
Shayne enjoyed quilting, gardening, cross stitch, and completing crossword puzzles. Through the years, she stayed active in the Church of Christ-Central Park and Girl Scouts of America. She also loved discussing how many granddaughters were named after her.
Shayne is survived by her husband Roy E. Townsend Sr.; son Roy (Tamara) Townsend Jr.; daughters Debbra Erickson (Michael) of Aberdeen, Tanya (Andy) Anderson of Aberdeen, and Jennifer Iannello of Hoquiam; brothers David (Cathy) Williams of Tacoma, Wash. and Albert (Cookie) Williams of Humptulips, Wash.; and sister Kassandra (David) Carlin of Longview, Wash. Along with sister-in-law Carlynne Williams; grandchildren Elexsis Shayne, Jessey Lee, Kayla Shayne, Cody Wayne, Shiianna Shayne, Zachary Guy, Jillian Shayne, Morgan Dawn, Roy Nicholas, Dillon Spencer Edward, Kiana Katherine Elizabeth, Anthony Michael, and Jake Edward; great-grandchildren Cadence Shayne, Daniel Joseph, Emily Shayne, Nolan Mark, Charles Ray, Gracelynn Shayne, Reaghan Paige, Lyndon Shayne, and Wesley Warren; and lifelong friends Betty and Ned Williams of Aberdeen and Jack McDougall of Aberdeen.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Myrtle Williams; brother James A. Williams; and grandson Joseph Wayne Mudgett.
A Celebration of Shayne’s Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at The Church of Christ, 5121 Olympic Hwy, Aberdeen. A reception will follow.
