Sharon Marie Mondy, 84, of Aberdeen, Washington passed away on Jan. 23, 2025, with her husband by her side.
Sharon Mae Mondy was born on Feb. 23, 1940 to Mary Clemmons and Donald Gordon in Aberdeen, Washington. Later baptized as Sharon Marie Mondy, she attended St. Mary’s school and graduated in 1958 from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen. She held jobs locally at the Aberdeen bowling alley, Scott’s Grand Central Grocery, and retired in 2002 from Grays Harbor PUD, where she once held the title for most meters read in a single day.
In 1994, Sharon married Chuck Mondy Jr. Though her children were already grown, she was blessed with a bonus daughter Jonna, who she was able to help raise from the age of 5. They spent many weekends making memories by going on road trips and other adventures. Parenthood was still not over for Sharon as they would later go on to raise a granddaughter, Kaycee.
Sharon knitted and crocheted until her arthritis no longer allowed. She loved watching movies, visiting with her grandkids, spending time in the patio swing watching the birds and squirrels in the backyard, watching football, and having her weekly Dutch Bros coffee on Sundays. She had recently received an iPad which enabled her to do puzzles, paint by numbers, and keep in touch with family via FaceTime, which made her very happy.
Sharon is survived by her husband Chuck at the family home; sons Gordon and Larry Copeland of Aberdeen; stepson Ryan (Cyndi) Austin of Disputanta, Virginia; daughter Angela Mills of Eastern Washington; stepdaughter Jonna Mondy and her spouse Jesse Haggard of Aberdeen; sister Cathy (Jimi) Rodgers of Pe Ell; brother Ron (Sandy) Gordon of Yuma, Arizona; sister-in-law Pat Carlson of Sherwood, Oregon; sister-in-law Connie (Bob) Collins of Westport, Washington; grandchildren Kajan and Raymond Austin of Disputanta, Virginia; Jonathan Mills of Eastern Washington; Kaycee Copeland of Havasu City, Arizona; Kyler, Ailyn, and Layne Haggard of Aberdeen and Gemma Courts of Aberdeen.
She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Mary, her twin daughters Karen and Kathleen Copeland, and a granddaughter Eva Courts.
At Sharon’s request, there will be no service. The family suggests considering a donation to PAWS of Grays Harbor in her memory in lieu of flowers.
