Sharon Kay “Ms. Mac” McCormick, age 81, passed away peacefully Aug. 18, 2020, at her home.

Sharon was born July 13, 1939, in Waldport, Oregon.

She graduated from Oregon State University in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in Education.

She moved to Hoquiam the fall of 1962 and taught for the next 30 years in the Hoquiam School District, retiring June 16, 1993. After retirement, she volunteered at Hoquiam Parks and Recreation.

In 2019, Sharon was inducted to the Wall Of Distinction for pioneering girls sports at Hoquiam High School and many years of service, support and commitment to the students of the Hoquiam School District.

Her favorite pastimes included watching sports, gardening, gourmet cooking and having lunch with her friends. She always had a special place in her heart for cats needing love and a home.

Sharon is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Robert Hill; her niece and husband, Julie Hill-Craig and Steven Craig; and Julie’s three children: Cameron, Joshua and Aliyah Banks.

The family would like to thank Debbie Douglass, one of Sharon’s dearest friends, for all of her support over the years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PAWS of Grays Harbor.
