Our beloved Sean passed away of natural causes at home in San Francisco on Sept. 6, 2018. He was born in Seattle and raised mostly in Hoquiam, Wash.

He was a gifted athlete, excelling in both baseball and football. He was also highly intelligent. After graduating from Hoquiam High School, he attended the University of Washington, where he earned a double Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and biochemistry.

Sean served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the France Paris mission and spoke fluent French.

He worked doing research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Wash., and in Palo Alto, Calif.

Sean was preceded in death by his father, Jim Maloney.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Wilburn; her husband Doug Wilburn; brother Regan Maloney; sisters Maureen Pola and Stacey Girard; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Private memorials will be held with family at a later date. Donations may be made in Sean’s behalf to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
