Scott Robert Newberry

Scott Robert Newberry, a resident of Aberdeen, died on July 13, 2021, at his home in Aberdeen.

Scott Robert Newberry, age 61, a resident of Aberdeen, died on July 13, 2021, at his home in Aberdeen. Mr. Newberry was born on Dec. 30, 1959, to Robert and Martha (Coulter) Newberry. He was raised on the Harbor and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1978.

Scott met the love of his life, Sam, while attending Aberdeen High School, and they were married in September, 1983.

He had worked as a diesel mechanic and retired from Anderson-Middleton in 2019 after 28 years.

In addition to his wife Sam, he is survived by a son and his wife, Maxs and Tiffany Newberry of Lynnwood; two grandchildren, Layla and Jaxson; a brother David Newberry and a sister, Joan Newberry.

One of Scott’s biggest accomplishments was being a father. His son, Maxs, called his dad a superhero, and even as an adult, still saw him that way. He was always there for him through his ups and downs, and taught him to enjoy every moment life has to offer. Scott was a loving Papa to his grandchildren. He also had a special place in his heart for his brother-in-law, Jeff Brooks and his family, Tracy (wife), Lucy (daughter) and Lincoln (son).

As the phrase goes, “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times better than a master of one.” Scott could do anything with his hands. At a young age he’d realized he’d loved anything with a motor, and he and his friends very quickly started getting into trouble on their Bonanza mini-bikes. This love for motors transitioned into cars, and in high school he started building muscle cars; the best of which being a 1969 Chevy Camaro that he’d sold to pay for his and Sam’s honeymoon. He could build anything, and he spent a lot of his free time bringing his ideas to life. Every property he’d ever owned received the “Newberry” touch.

Scott didn’t let many into his inner circle, but he would do anything for those that he did. He built some long-lasting friendships in Grays Harbor, and over the past 8 years the friends he’d met at Lake Nahwatzel had become family.

The family will be holding a private gathering to celebrate his life in true Scott Newberry fashion.

Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
