Ruth Marie Nielsen, a longtime resident of Grays Harbor, died on Sept. 12, 2022, at Harbor Regional Hospital in Aberdeen.

Ruth Marie Nielsen, a longtime resident of Grays Harbor, died on Sept. 12, 2022, at Harbor Regional Hospital in Aberdeen.

Ruth was born on June 11, 1935 in Arrowsmith, Illinois to James Harden and Mary Ella. She was raised and graduated school in Bloomington, Illinois. In 1952, she met and married Delmur Nielsen, a serviceman in the Air Force, who was stationed in Illinois.

They moved from Illinois to Copalis Crossing, Washington, later moving to Hoquiam and then Aberdeen.

In addition to being an excellent seamstress and cook, she built, owned and operated the Beaute’ Boutique for 20 years. She then became a Real Estate Broker and property manager for Twin County Realty and for Premier Realty. She belonged to the Association of Realtors and was chosen Realtor of Year.

Ruth was very active in the communities of Aberdeen and Hoquiam, serving on committees for Logger’s Playday, Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity and the Miss Grays Harbor Pageant. She was aso a member of the Aberdeen Elks, where she rose through the chairs to serve as Exaulted Ruler.

While living in Hoquiam, Ruth attended Saron Lutheran Church. In Aberdeen, she attended the First Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon of the church.

Surviving her are daughter, Rhonda Steinman, sons Phillip (Isa) Nielsen and Michael Nielsen; grandsons, David (Donna) Steinman and Jonathan(Vina) Steinman, granddaughter Andra (Dane) Smith and great-grandchildren: Harry, Lauren, Ellisabela and Lucas.

Preceding her in death are her parents, all six of her siblings, her son-in-law Steven Steinman and Delmur Nielsen.

A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at the Coleman Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
