Russ (Rusty) Hansen passed away peacefully at his home in Shelton, Wash. on Oct. 11, 2018, at the age of 74 years.

Russ (Rusty) Hansen passed away peacefully at his home in Shelton, Wash., on Oct. 11, 2018, at the age of 74 years.

Russ, born March 24, 1944, was the son of Walter and Jean (Stenger) Hansen and brother to Jan (Hansen) Erickson of Hoquiam, Wash.

Russ worked as a technical writer, sales and procurement representative in the electrical industry in Washington, California and Nebraska.

In 1989, he moved to Juneau, Alaska, where he worked as a procurement officer with Alaska DOT/Alaska Marine Highway Systems. Russ taught dance classes, was a marriage commissioner, organized fundraisers for the March of Dimes and other organizations and DJ’d and MC’d dances and events.

Russ’ love of dogs led him to serve on the Board of the Icelandic Sheepdog Assoc. and Adopt-A-Pet of Shelton, Wash. He was a member of the Sons of Norway HovedstadLodge #94. Russ enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and always loved to travel.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Linda (Kriner) Hansen; son Ryan and daughter-in-law Marie (Halley) Hansen; step-children Renee Christine and Paul Comella; grandchildren: Lexy Hansen, Lindee Halley, Tristan Comella, Nevin, Ian, Austin and Quinn Schroth; four great-grandchildren: Wynter, Ariana, Sarah Grace, and Elijah; two nephews: Ken and Duke and their families.

A celebration of Russ’ life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. at the Sons of Norway Hall, 717 Randall St, Aberdeen, WA 98520. Pastor Jeani Shofner will be officiating the memorial.
